Life’s Last Thoughts
What is one to dream of
At the sunset of his life
Vision is but a blindfold away
Yet fate’s revenge would not sway
To accept the end is tough
The last wish—to see the unborn child and the wife
Visions of the last sunset,
Of the carefree earth and skies
Hover before unopened eyes.
The smooth sands where happiness had met
Where waves of desire once crushed on dream’s seams
Were never to be set eyes upon again, it seems.
The kite that had touched the hearts
Beside the starry dusk now hurts.
The lonely lark, the waterfall, the silhouette, the ruby sky,
Now seems to be a joke played by the all-seeing eye.
The faces of all enemies now merge into one
It seems to laugh at this unfulfilled life.
At the final moment, none of the thoughts survive,
And without hesitation, another life is undone.
